What is a professional organizer?
A PO helps individuals and businesses decide what to do with their items--which are generally found in a disorganized, cluttered state--then helps efficiently arrange the items and create systems to maximize the use and visual appeal of a particular area and allow easy retrieval.
What type of person hires an organizer?
Anyone, from a stay at home parent in the suburbs to the young professional in the city. All different types of people have organizational needs, and there is an organizer out there ready to help you. The only prerequisite is that you, the client, be ready for change.
How much will this cost?
Prices are based on geographic location, complexity of the job, and experience of the organizer. You can expect to pay anywhere from $35 - $75 an hour on average. Some organizers create package deals. For example: The sorting, purging, and creation of a filing system would be one "job" that could be packaged.
Why should I pay someone to do something I could do myself?
You're paying for the expertise that a PO can bring to the table. We have spent countless hours researching the best products and systems that will help you function more efficiently. We provide a specialized service that will make your home and life run more smoothly. In the end, we will save you money....time...and anxiety.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in residential organizing. Including, but not limited to; home office set-ups, pantry and kitchen decluttering, PC file organizing, closet purging and sorting. Please call or email me to discuss a project that you have in mind.
I have also added "Virtual Assistant" to my list of services. Click here to learn more.
Is there anything that you will not organize or work with?
Due to various contractor licenses, I do not install permanent items, or build furniture.
How do I choose an organizer?
NAPO offers a referral service that will help you find a PO in your area who offers the services you seek.
What type of training do you have?
I have spent years organizing my own belongings, as well as those of my friends and family. Sometimes it's the innate abilities, rather than formal eduaction, that drive you to your perfect career.
I have also taken teleclasses offered by NAPO, as well read many books and articles revolving around the world of organizing. I will continue to forward my education, because one must keep up with the trends of the business and the needs of the client.
